Instead of growing tomatoes and shipping them by truck throughout Europe, it's an amazing feeling to grow your own tomatoes from seed and pick them from your own garden.
Having your own kitchen garden at home is popular and there are several varieties that are perfect for growing at home. Several different vegetables can be grown directly on the field in the garden, such as lettuce, beans, pumpkin, broccoli or maybe corn. Some vegetables thrive best in a sunny and warm location and require a wind-protected location or preferably a greenhouse, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, squash, melons, etc.
To the more easily grown vegetables include lettuce, carrots, radishes, but the more difficult often requires a greenhouse, such as tomatoes or eggplants.
Lettuce, arugula, and spinach are suggestions for different vegetables that grow very fast.
Tomatoes, chili, peppers, eggplants are among the varieties that usually need to be pre-grown indoors to be able to get a harvest in Sweden. With a greenhouse, you not only extend the growing season but also get a lot more fruit too.
There are some vegetables that should not be grown together as they can inhibit each other's growth, examples of this are cabbage and tomato, potatoes and broad beans, cabbage and onion, parsnips and radishes.
