Growing Calendar

We have created a collection together with the Carl Larsson House with flower and vegetable seeds that have been grown at Lilla Hyttnäs in Sundborn since 1888. Carl's paintings have inspired garden enthusiasts, including us, for over a hundred years with their images of the Swedish garden idyll.

The collection consists of two boxes with specially designed seed bags of typical varieties Karin grew in the garden at Lilla Hyttnäs. When choosing the contents of the seed collection, we went through paintings and stories from Lilla Hyttnäs to find connections and more easily imagine what the cultivation probably looked like at the Larsson family home.

Artic Poppy - Corallo

Corallo is a striking Siberian poppy in glowing shades of coral, often accented with hints of peach and soft pink. Its silky, gently wavy petals catch the light with an expressive yet elegant shimmer, resting weightlessly on tall, resilient stems. A captivating flower that brings both warmth and energy to garden beds as well as bouquets.
Although Corallo can be a demanding variety to cultivate, those who succeed are rewarded with a breathtaking display of color and a truly magical experience.

Artic Poppy - Giallo Chiaro

Giallo Chiaro is a Siberian poppy with bright yellow flowers that shimmer like sunlight and gradually fade in color the longer they stand. The paper-thin petals float almost weightlessly atop tall, sturdy stems – perfectly suited for cutting. Although it requires patience and can be a challenge to cultivate, Giallo Chiaro rewards those who succeed with a floral display like no other.

Artic Poppy - Ciclamino

Ciclamino is a charming Siberian poppy in shades of cyclamen pink and soft apricot – sometimes with a warm yellow hue at the center of the bloom. The silky, gently ruffled petals create a romantic, almost painterly impression, resting lightly on tall yet sturdy stems. An expressive flower that is just as beautiful in garden beds as it is in bouquets.
Ciclamino is an exciting cultivation challenge that requires dedication, but once established and in bloom, it is unmatched in its fairytale-like floral splendor!

Artic Poppy - Salmone

Salmone is an elegant poppy variety with soft salmon-colored blooms. The delicate, almost transparent petals rest on tall yet remarkably sturdy stems. This variety is known for being a cultivation challenge, but once it finds a spot where it thrives, it blooms magnificently and impressively. It&#8217;s incredibly beautiful when woven into summer bouquets!

Tulip - Vogue

The tulip variety Vogue belongs to the group of &#8216;double tulips&#8217;. These tulip bulbs bloom for a long period. They are not very tall, about 35-50 cm, and stand on sturdy stems. Due to their shorter height, these tulips are less susceptible to wind. Vogue has thick, fully-filled flowers that can open up and reach a diameter of up to 10 cm. An amazing tulip with peony-like flowers that will be remembered for a long time.
Vogue is also excellent for planting in pots.

Tulip - Francoise

Few single-flowered tulip varieties surpass our beloved favorite, Francoise. With its incredibly long and sturdy stems, we spotted it for the first time from quite a distance. The white beautiful flowers hovered slightly higher than all the others, capturing our curious gazes and immediately drawing us in. In all its simplicity, Francoise can be one of the most beautiful things we have actually seen.
It is a truly wonderful variety to have as a background plant or interwoven with other slightly taller varieties such as allium or the tulip variety Apricot Pride. It is also great for cutting due to its unusually long stems.

Tulip - Copper Image

Copper Image is a double-flowered tulip that shifts in colors of orange, copper, apricot, and pink during its blooming period. It is stunning in all colors, but our favorite stage is definitely when it transitions into copper. It reaches a height of approximately 35cm and typically blooms in May. It is also very beautiful as a cut flower.

Beloved Verona, a tulip variety that we at Florea could never be without. Among all the double tulip varieties, she is always the first to bloom, and how grateful we are for that. With her completely unique lemon-yellow color and full form, it&#8217;s hard to find words to describe her magical existence. An amazing tulip to bring indoors as a cut flower, not only for its appearance but also for its incredibly delightful scent. Verona actually smells like a wonderful combination of lemon curd and lemon sorbet, how incredible is that?
A true favorite variety for us at Florea, which holds a special place in our hearts and is a recurring guest in our gardens every year, thanks to its amazing attributes of color, form, and fragrance!

Creme Upstar is a late-blooming double tulip, flowering sometime between April and June, depending on the region in Sweden. Tulip - Avant Garde

Avant Garde is a relatively new variety in the market. It has a delightful creamy white color and can reach a height of up to 40 cm with strong stems. This variety is classified as a double tulip and blooms early, sometime between March and May. It produces large peony-like flowers that also have a fantastic fragrance. It is perfect for cutting and using as a floral arrangement.

Palmyra is an early-blooming double tulip. It has a very dark, charming color that makes it a real eye-catcher in the flower bed. It has sturdy stems and reaches a height of approximately 30cm. We were particularly enamored with the dark color combined with its peony-like flowers.

This wonderful variety of tulip took us all by storm out in the fields of Holland. The pearly petals shimmered beautifully when the sun was out, and some of the flowers even transitioned into a light, enchanting pink shade. The best thing about this particular variety is that it blooms unusually long and holds up incredibly well in a vase. It&#8217;s the perfect cut tulip to use in both bouquets and other types of floral arrangements!

Happy Upstar closely resembles its sibling, Creme Upstar, in appearance, but the most notable difference is actually the foliage. The leaves have white accents, which we found very charming. The flower is double and transitions from coral pink to a more creamy yellow color. A truly charming tulip.

This delightful tulip variety changes color depending on where it is in the bloom. It starts in a magical antique pink shade and then transitions into magical copper tones. A fantastic double tulip that is incredibly well suited for cutting, thanks to its long blooming time and its varying appearance during bloom. Strikingly beautiful from bud stage to when it is fully bloomed, which makes Beach Berry a real bouquet favorite.
This variety is excellent to plant in pots and is delightful on its own or planted with other varieties in slightly rustier copper tones. A real tulip dream!
