A charming pea with elegant dark purple pods and violet flowers. Harvest them early as sweet peas and eat the whole pod. If the variety is harvested later, the peas should be sprayed like marrow peas. This means picking the peas out of the pod itself. So the variety has two uses, enjoy freshly harvested sugar snap peas at the beginning of the season and the spritzed peas in late summer.

This is Anna Kubel’s favorite pea, a must at her house. There it is allowed to climb wild on a trellis and adorn all summer salads and wok dishes.
