Pink October
October is the month of pink every year to recognise the fight against breast cancer. Together we can help fight breast cancer and support research to save more lives. For every seed packet sold labelled ‘Pink October’, we will donate 20 SEK to the Swedish Breast Cancer Association throughout the month of October. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women and the Swedish Breast Cancer Society works actively to fund research, spread knowledge and provide support to those affected by breast cancer. By shopping with us during October, you contribute to this important work.
How you can detect breast cancer in time
In addition to contributing through your purchase, it is important to take care of your own health. Regular breast self-examinations can help you detect changes early, which can be crucial for early diagnosis and treatment. Here is a simple guide on how to self-test:
Look: Stand in front of a mirror and look for visible changes. Raise your arms above your head and check for skin tightening, nipple retraction or other unusual changes.
Feel: Lie down or stand up and feel your breasts with your fingertips. Start from the nipple and work your way outwards in small circular movements, up towards the armpit and all the way around the breasts. Feel for lumps or other changes that are not usually there.
Pay attention to symptoms: keep an eye out for pain, nipple discharge or lumps. Contact your healthcare provider if you notice any of these symptoms.
By doing this self-test once a month, you can quickly detect changes. The self-test does not replace a mammogram, but it can be a complementary way to keep track of your health.
