Growing Calendar

We have created a collection together with the Carl Larsson House with flower and vegetable seeds that have been grown at Lilla Hyttnäs in Sundborn since 1888. Carl's paintings have inspired garden enthusiasts, including us, for over a hundred years with their images of the Swedish garden idyll.

The collection consists of two boxes with specially designed seed bags of typical varieties Karin grew in the garden at Lilla Hyttnäs. When choosing the contents of the seed collection, we went through paintings and stories from Lilla Hyttnäs to find connections and more easily imagine what the cultivation probably looked like at the Larsson family home.

Cosmos - Apricotta

This lovely variety of cosmos is truly special. With its beautiful colors ranging from apricot, caramel, vanilla, to rose, Apricotta has captured our hearts here at Florea. Its sweet petals shimmer beautifully in the sun and create a stunning focal point wherever it is planted. The attractive foliage is green and has a feathery appearance. Cosmos - Double Click Snowpuff

Let us introduce the cosmos of all cosmoses, the fabulous Snow Puff. With its unique appearance, this variety has taken all of us at Florea by storm. Snow Puff&#8217;s flowers are fully double, giving a fluffy and soft impression. The ball-like flowers are pure white, and among all the beautiful petals, one can glimpse a yellow center disk. The foliage is green, long, and dill-like.
Snow Puff is perfect for cutting and is magical in bouquets. It is lovely on its own or mixed with other wonderful summer flowers. The variety is also incredibly decorative in flower beds, where it blooms abundantly and magnificently until the frost takes it.

Snapdragon - Snapstar Champagne

A brand new and unique snapdragon variety that with its beautiful double flowers and long stems took our flower hearts by storm. So much so that we simply had to add Snapstar Champagne to our range immediately, without having grown the variety ourselves. Some varieties are simply so beautiful and magical that they get to jump ahead in the queue and get a place directly in our range here at Florea. This variety ticked all our boxes in color, shape and characteristics. We have only one word about Snapstar Champagne and that is WOW!

Cosmos - Daydream

An easy-to-grow and beautiful summer flower that blooms abundantly and magnificently until the frost arrives. The enchanting flower is white with a little pink near the center and the center is wonderfully summer yellow. The foliage is beautifully dill-like, and the stems are sturdy, making the variety an excellent cut flower. It is magical in bouquets, pots, and flower beds thanks to its charming flowers.
It is incredibly appreciated and popular with all of our pollinators. A popular variety in butterfly gardens and the ultimate attraction for the kitchen garden or other plantings. Daydream is a healthy variety that is rarely affected by attacks or diseases and has found its way into many gardens in Sweden. Sugar Snap Pea - Delikett

A fresh and delicate salad pea with thick, round pods that can grow up to 8 cm long. The incredibly sweet and pleasant taste makes this variety perfect for salads but it is also popular in stir-fry dishes. In addition to being great for boiling and freezing, it produces lots of white enchanting flowers, which makes it incredibly decorative. This variety is of incredibly high quality and produces abundant harvests throughout the season.
Snap peas are a charming cross between sugar peas and snow peas. Snap peas have inherited the best qualities of both parent types, which means the sugar pea&#8217;s crispness and the snow pea&#8217;s good aroma.

Cucamelon - Mouse Melon

The Cucamelon  is a fantastic cultural heritage from 1866 and is actually a Mexican watermelon. With its enchanting small oval cucumbers with a sweet and sour taste, the cucamelon has become a great favorite in many homes. In addition to the wonderful green-speckled skin, it is also a fabulous climbing plant that looks very decorative in both greenhouses and on trellises.
The variety is perfect for summer salads, various types of pickling, and even for stir-fry dishes. A hot tip from us at Florea is to use cucamelon in tzatziki. The variety is perfect for that purpose with its sweet and sour taste.
