This variety has a spicy and strong flavor of basil with a small hint of anise. The plant has a beautiful dark purple stem with attractive pinkish-purple flowers. The leaves are used in many Thai dishes, usually fresh but also dried. In addition to the plant’s edible properties, the variety is also known for being used as an ornamental plant in pots and flower arrangements.
We highly recommend making a coconut curry with ginger, chickpeas, and Thai basil, or a refreshing herb lemonade with lime and Thai basil using this delightful variety.
