Celery cabbage, a pleasant and useful leafy green with white, large, beautiful leaves. The variety comes from China and is one of the oldest Chinese vegetable crops. The variety has always been very popular in Asia but has in recent years gained incredible popularity in the rest of the world, especially in Europe. The stems are very crisp and have a spinach-like flavor, and the fresh leaves are perfect for making soups. Pak Choi is incredibly delicious to eat fresh in salads or steamed with soy sauce and sesame seeds. It is also magical to sauté with garlic in a frying pan and fantastic in stir-fried dishes. A very easy to grow and vigorous variety that has found its way into many gardens. Pak Choi can also be blanched and frozen if needed but is at its absolute best when fresh.
The variety also contains lots of nutrients such as folate, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and K, as well as vitamin B6.
