Kale - Westland Autumn ECO

Brassica oleracea var. sabellica

An incredibly easy-to-grow iron and vitamin-rich kale that can be harvested for a very long time thanks to its exceptional frost tolerance. During mild winters, the variety can be harvested as late as January, which is a big plus. The taste is fresh, appetizing, and excellent for freezing. In addition to the incredible taste, the Westland Autumn’s foliage is absolutely amazing and makes for incredibly decorative plantings, pots, and garden arrangements.

This variety is excellent for making delicious kale chips in the oven with just a little garlic, olive oil, and salt. It also goes well when blended into morning smoothies for an extra vitamin boost or why not a cream sauce with Västerbotten cheese? Yum!

Many people know that kale is healthy, but at Florea, we want to highlight how it is both healthy and good for the body. Kale contains lots of flavonoids that have anti-inflammatory effects. Flavonoids help protect the body’s cells and have also been shown to reduce the risk of heart and vascular diseases. In addition to being rich in iron, vitamin C, and vitamin A, kale is also an excellent source of ALA, which is converted to the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA when we eat it. The fatty acid DHA has also been shown to help with dementia and depression, among other things.
