The variety has large beautiful flowers with a light pink tone at the end of the petals that darkens slightly further towards the center. It produces abundant flowers that also fade to an increasingly pastel pink color during the summer season. The variety was developed in the UK by dahlia breeder H. Hammett. Fairway Pilot was introduced to the market in 1975 and has since become a very popular dahlia variety, now grown all over the world.
