This tulip was added to our assortment in a classic Florea way; we were driving to a completely different place when we passed a field of Mystique van Eijk. A real ‘stop the car!!’ moment.

We quickly fell in love with its beautiful color, the long sturdy stems swaying gently in the wind. We spent a few days with this amazing tulip, and it became a strong favorite. It held up incredibly well in a vase despite the warm temperature and less than ideal conditions.

The variety also belongs to the Darwin family, which means it has a great chance of producing side bulbs and being perennial.

    Do we have perennial flower bulbs, and how does it work?

    All tulips in our assortment can bloom for multiple years if given the right conditions. Normally, we say that they are all one-year bloomers, so if they bloom for several years, it's just a bonus. This applies to almost all tulips. No tulip is truly perennial; instead, what happens is that if you provide the tulip bulb with the right conditions, it will form a new side bulb during the flowering period, which will bloom the following year.

    Narcissus, on the other hand, is usually recurring. It is a safer choice if you want recurring blooms. Most narcissus varieties also have the pleasant characteristic of spreading and multiplying!
